The Centre County United Way’s “Over the Edge” fundraiser will move to downtown State College for 2025 after two years of giving community members the opportunity to rappel down the side of Beaver Stadium.

With construction for the stadium renovation project ongoing, this year’s event will take place on July 29 at Hyatt Place State College, 219 W. Beaver Ave. Participants who raise a minimum of $1,000 in donations for CCUW will be able to rappel 12 stories down the front of the hotel at the 155-foot-tall Fraser Centre.

Hyatt Place State College previously hosted an “Over the Edge” fundraiser for the Bellefonte FaithCentre and Interfaith Human Services in 2018 and 2019.

“We are so excited to bring Over The Edge to downtown State College in July and look forward to creating a fun way for everyone in the community to be involved,” CCUW event organizer Ja Nae Wian said in a statement. “The past two years rappelling off Beaver Stadium was amazing, but due to construction the stadium is not available this year. We are so grateful that the Hyatt came on board without hesitation.”

A festival atmosphere with a ground-level party for family, friends and spectators to cheer on participants will accompany the day-long event.

All ages are eligible to rappel, but those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian. And all participants must be within the 100 to 300 pound required weight range in accordance with safety standards set by Over The Edge, the special events company that provides the signature rappelling events for nonprofit organizations.

Registration is open now at give.overtheedge.events/otecentrecountyunitedway2025, and those who sign up by April 10 will receive a $10 discount on the $125 registration fee.
